I think it could be worthwhile to try regenerating isolines with this dataset: https://sonny.4lima.de/
It is based on LIDAR data which has several advantages over SRTM: less noise, represents actual ground level (SRTM is actually a digital surface model so it includes e.g. forest tree cover).
Right now isolines are only marginally useful; while routing elevation chart shows quite acceptable level of detail - isolines with a 20 m step and super smoothed don't show much of the landform.
It should be easy to try out as the data is supplied in SRTM-compatible format. That implies it's reduced from its source resolution, but as the website author points out - original data files are often too large. And I expect little to no smoothing needed with his files.
