Timeline and Feedback on new specs versions
Expected release date is Oct 1.
We prefer feedback via the relevant Github repos. Otherwise feedback can also be send to David or Emil from the Tech Board.
How quick are suppliers at implementing new RSMP versions?
Copenhagen: contracts are now requiring updates within six months, but we're yet to see it happen.
Sweden: suppliers are not always quick to update.
The TLC marked has traditionally been "sell and leave it", no updates included. Road authorities should consider including requirements that equipment is updated regularly.
If equipment is not updated simultaneously, central systems must be good at handling different version.
Nordic Way input
Working with architecture and retrofitting legacy equipment shows that it can be hard to upgrade equipment. What requirements should authorities place on upgrading equipment?
RSMP v4
The v4 Working Group is researching ideas for a potential RSMP v4.
One idea is to build RSMP 4 on top of MQTT. We discussed ongoing work, see:
rsmp-nordic/rsmp_core_v4#1
Would adding MQTT increase complexity? Or make things easier?
Would MQTT reduce bandwidth?
Feel free to provide input or join the v4 Working Group. Contact David or Emil if you're interested.
VMS SXL
Working group is working on standardizing an SXL for VMSes and now have a first very rough draft.
We will soon need input. We're trying to cover quite a broad set of use-cases and need people with practical experience with these different types of VMSes and how they are used.
Work is happening in the repo:

Files in this repo is used for drafts and summaries, while discussions happen at:

France
Yann provided a brief update on work in France:
Last summer equipment providers met at tried to use RSMP, with success.
There's a decision to replace different old protocols in France with something else.
Beginning of 2023 we tried to define specific SXLs and communicate between VMS, counter and supervisor system.
Defined a cyber security model. Now exploring two models: end-to-end encryption and TLS transmission layer.
