Status on Activity Plan
The Board gave a status on the previous activity plan, which was acknowledged by the Steering Group.
Activity Plan for 2024/2025
The Board presented the proposal for the Activity Plan for 2024/2025.
Proposed appointments were presented. Four activities were highlighted, and the steering group provided strategic input on each.
Appointments
The Steering Group approved the proposed appointments (as shown in the Activity Plan) for the Technical Board and Secretariat.
RSMP 4
The Steering Group agreed to continue work on RSMP 4, eventually leading to recommendations to the Steering Group.
Oslo has good experience with MQTT.
Signal Programming
The Steering Group agreed there is a need for easier signal programming.
The activity on signal programming specification will not include development of signal programing tools at this point. There will still be a need for (vendor-neutral) programming tools.
Certification
The Steering Group thinks this would be useful for road authorities and agree on in initiating the activity.
Hervé talked about the work happening in France with certification. Perhaps this could grow into a European RSMP certification.
RSMP Europe
The Steering Group discussed pro and cons of growing the RSMP Nordic partnership into a more European project. There's a lot to consider, and the Steering Group agree to start the activity, which will explore this topic.
More countries could bring resources, momentum, benefits. RSMP was initiated with a focus on meeting the needs of Nordic road authorities and the way traffic control is done in the Nordics. Would this be jeopardized?
France highlighted that the most important aspects for them are:
• Vendor neutrality, to enable road authorities to replace equipment without affecting protocols/other systems.
• Cyber security.
• End user perspective, verification of the actual functionality of the controller.
Activity Plan Approval
The steering group approved the activity plan for 2024/2025 (draft 5 from May 30).
Steering Group Meeting Frequency
The steering group decided to meet twice a year, for two hours.
