Description

When I turn on the Carpuride (carplay) but I don't open the Osmand app
first, the map I see on the carpuride is only in night mode. If I try to
change to day mode from the phone app, nothing happens, it always stays in
night mode.
Instead, when I open the osmand app first and the map mode is in day mode,
then I turn on the Carplay I see the map in day mode.
However, even in this last case, if I want to put the map in day mode, or I
want to activate the mode change based on the light that the sensor
receives, nothing changes in this case it always stays in day mode.

Steps to reproduce

Open the Carpuride (carplay) wait for start. Chose Osman app.

Actual result

The app is open in night mode also is I blocked in light view.

Expected result

The may be open in the same way that it is selected on the app. If I try to change in light modo nothing do.
But If I start first the Osman app on the phone and choose light color of the map and after I turn on my carplay the map is in light mode

Please note that Android Auto uses the first Driving profile in the OsmAnd Profiles list for navigation. If a different profile is active or not configured as expected, it may cause inconsistencies like the one you described. Here's how you can resolve this:

  1. Open OsmAnd on your phone.
  2. Navigate to Menu → Settings → App profiles → Edit profile list.
  3. Move your preferred Driving profile to the first position in the list (except for the "Browse map" profile, which is not used by Android Auto).
  4. Ensure the Driving profile is configured with the desired map mode settings (Day/Night or automatic based on light sensor).

When connecting to Android Auto, OsmAnd will use this first car navigation profile. It seems that a different profile might currently be active, which hasn't been set up with your preferences.

For more details, you can follow this guide:

The bug has been reproduced based on our observations. To reproduce:

  1. Turn on Carpuride (CarPlay) and wait for it to start.
  2. Open the OsmAnd app on your phone after CarPlay is active.
  3. Observe that the map stays in night mode even if the phone app is set to day mode.
  4. Attempt to change the map mode or enable automatic mode based on light conditions — the app remains in night mode.

It seems that if CarPlay and OsmAnd are configured differently, the map will show the setting that was applied first.

Map screen in AA is controlled by car not the application. So if you want to change it you need to change inside the car Day / Night. Please mind that is a policy for AA application to be controlled by dashboard and not the own settings.
