Failed to communicate with device.

When I try to use Jitterbug I get the error message, "Failed to communicate with device. Make sure the device is connected and unlocked and that the pairing is valid." I'm pretty sure I have the correct pairing file and that everything is set up correctly but its just not working. I'm using Jitterbug Lite running from AltStore, with no paid account and I am using two different devices.
