Hi,

I noticed that it is possible to delete the sync data. (Haven't tried it yet)

It would be also nice to delete my own account, so that I can start over. For instance if I like to change my E-Mail address.
With the new version 1.4 I am allowed to change my E-Mail address, but it has no affect, except that the sync is broken if I do so. Even if I try to reconnect firefox with the new E-Mail address.
I can create a new sync account with a new E-Mail address, but then the old one is still left.

So I guess this issue is not about deleting your Sync account but rather changing your email address.

Please explain in more detail how exactly Sync is broken. Also, post your ownCloud log so that we know what's going wrong when you try to use Sync.

Sorry, maybe I wrote it a bit confusing.
The Email address that I used in the past to set up the sync account doesn’t exist anymore. So I like to change it or would delete the old sync account to start over.
I changed under the personal page my email address to the new one, it got saved. Then I disconnected my Firefox and tried to reconnect it with the new email address. I got the message that the username or password is wrong. I used the new Email address, the old password and the old Firefox Key.
The error log said:

require_once() [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required '//home/www/web/html/owncloud/apps/mozilla_sync/appinfo/remote.php' (include_path='/home/www/web/html/owncloud/lib/private:/home/www/web/html/owncloud/config:/home/www/web/html/owncloud/3rdparty:/home/www/web/html/owncloud/apps:/home/www/web/html/owncloud/lib:.:/home/www/confixx/html/include:/home/www/confixx/html:/home/www/confixx/html/PEAR:/home/www/web/html/owncloud') at /home/www/web/html/owncloud/remote.php#43

Error mozilla_sync remote.php#36 run(): Could not authenticate user 6djvzhwsos7stxbs2ewzdsuhtah3fxaq. 2014-02-12T21:31:27+00:00

Error mozilla_sync user.php#224 syncHashToUserName(): DB: Could not convert Sync hash 56djvzhwsos7stxbs2ewzdsuhtah3fxaq to user name.

Probably my approach was wrong.

I am not quite sure what happened when I push the button “delete sync data”? Does it remove the account or just the content in the account?

I know I could go straight into the SQL database and delete it there, but I am worried that I might mess something up. There is not just my account. There are others.

EDIT:

OK, I apparently overlooked the last setence in the manual.

This will remove all your data from the server and delete your Sync user. Deleting all the data will not inform your paired devices and they will be in an incosistent state.

@MeCias: Please test the referenced pull request and see if changing the email address now works for you. You don't need to delete the Sync data.

Hi,

thanks for your help.

Unfortunately it doesn't. Now I get the message that Firefox-Sync-Key is wrong.

I get no log entries.

How exactly did you change the email address in the Firefox browser?

I disconnected my sync account via Firefox

Then I logged into my owncloud and changed there under the Personnel page the mozilla sync EMail address to the new one.

I reconnected Firefox with the new Email address, the old password and the old Firefox Key.

I can reproduce that error. I have no idea why the Sync key would be wrong after changing the email address. Maybe the email is somehow included in its generation.
