Disallow users from entering values not defined in array

Is it possible to not allow a user to select a value not provided in the array list? Using the country list example as part of a form and am finding people who either keyboard space (or multiple keyboard space) to avoid selecting a proper country, or just simply entering random characters. Not clear if it's possible as currently coded to force a user to select a predefined value.
