With python2 being discontinued in 2020, python3 support should be added.

Also some linux dist have switched to python3.

Just wanted to mention that there is a MediaWiki parser (mwparserfromhell) which is Python 3 compatible.

python2 is expiring in a few weeks. Is mwlib EOL now?

No, we are working on a Python3 version. Not sure when it will be ready but we won't abandon the project.

I'm somewhat disappointed, there is still no python3 version

A Python3 version is coming. You can check out the python3_upgrade branch if you are adventurous. Most of mwlib is already working in Python3 but we want to modernize a few more things before merging and creating a new release.
