Feature Request: Make nfdump cross-buildable

We have a bugreport of our cross-building guru Helmut Grohne in Debian where nfdump is not cross-buildable (i.e. build arm64 binaries on amd64 hosts). He provided a patch for 1.7.1, but it does not apply to 1.7.5. This is something I definitely don't want to maintain on the Debian side and I think it needs to be integrated into your upstream CI pipeline, otherwise the necessary parts will bitrot.

I leave it up to you whether you want to invest time in cross-building support nfdump. If you don't want to, feel free to close this bug and I will mark it as wontfix on the Debian side. If you want to fix it and need more details, Helmut is very responsive.
