Trying to run ShootOff on my mid-2012 Macbook Pro, running osx 10.8.5.

Followed the troubleshooting instructions in the FAQ and managed to get my java version updated from 1.6.xxx to the most recent (1.8.0_0144).

(Side note: updating Java didn't work after multiple installs of the JRE, and it was only when I found this page that any of this made sense... essentially if I'm reading this right, the JRE is just a browser plugin, the JDK is what's needed to change the default version system-wide/in Terminal, etc? Anyhow, the newer version of Java didn't exist via Terminal until I installed the JDK.)

So now my default Java version is 1.8.0_0144 (verified via Terminal), but Java still crashes every time I try to open ShootOFF.jar.

I'm not really a 'code' guy and I'm kinda at the end of my skill-set here. Would really like to get ShootOff up and running, wondering if anybody might have any advice to offer?

I am able to copy/paste the contents of the crash report when ShootOFF.jar tries to open, if that would be helpful?

Many thanks for your continuing efforts on this software and for any insights you could offer!

I am also using OSX, but 10.13.6. I have installed java correctly using homebrew. But I am not able to install correctly the JavaFX. And "echo JAVA_HOME" has no output.

java --version
openjdk 14.0.1 2020-04-14
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 14.0.1+7)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0.1+7, mixed mode, sharing)

This seems to me that java was installed correctly, wasn't it?
Any advice?

Running ShootOFF.jar Mac tells me that the JAR file was not able to open. I should check the console error messages. No idea what this means. Sorry.

Looking for any advice. Thanks
