As an understanding question: Would it be beneficial (from an SEO perspective) to redirect the "default" content of a folder to the "default" content of the translated folder?

As an example:
Current redirection:
www.example.com/de/A
www.example.com/en/A/defaultPage?set_language=en

Alternative:
