Image in Docker Hub

Would not it be great if this tool was delivered as Linux and Windows images, published on Docker Hub? I foresee this would provide at least the following benefits:

• No need to install the tool, track dependencies and compatibility on the host machine
• No need to build own Docker images

This is not something we have considered in the past but are open to looking into this further, should there be an interest.

I see that the Azure CLI has an official image which is maintained in the Microsoft Container Registry so it's not un-common for tools to have their own images.

Apologies @shurick81 lost in translation, it appears common for a tool to have an associated Docker Image.

As @appieschot has mentioned, I also wouldn’t need a Docker Image for my own personal use of the CLI, but does sound cool and my concern would be setting down a path where we add extra overhead to our maintenance tasks for little benefit.

I have tweeted this discussion from our Twitter account and will ask the question in the PnP Client Side Development community call on Thursday to see if there is interest in taking this further.

This could be a bit of a side thread but I might tell you why I use Azure CLI in docker. One of my favourite things is infrastructure as code, so when I work in a team of developers with different desktop configurations, I can create bash snippets with az incorporated and then we can use these snippets on any dev laptop. As a bonus, we can also use the very same snippets in CI/CD, provided that CI/CD platform allows running jobs in containers (like GitLab, for example). To summarize, using CLI tools in Docker allows to write code with better unification and more likely reusable in the team.

So I think there is interest and an image will be probably more demanded if it is published officially from an organization (or community in our case)
