If you submit a chat message while the server connection is lost and is in the process of being re-established, the message will disappear from the input box, but not appear in the chat message list until the server confirms receipt of the message. This can give the impression that nothing happened. Provide some indicator in the chat message list that your message is being sent. This can be done in a few ways. I'll leave it up to the person working on this to decide how this indicator will work.

@pongstylin what about showing when the other user is typing instead to further increase the interactivity to make it to appear sooner?

That is opposite of what I was talking about and doesn't solve the issue I was describing. By opposite, I mean an indicator that you attempted to send a message to them - not an indicator that they are writing or sending a message to you.
