A question about src layout

I've been trying to set up a hatch backend for scikit-hep/cookie (scientific-python/cookie#66), and I've run into a couple of problems. I can't figure out from the documentation how to set a src layout - if I run:

pipx run hatch==1.0.0rc5 config set template.plugins.default.src-layour true
pipx run hatch==1.0.0rc5 new -i

Nothing actually changes and I still get the same layout and config file, so I can't tell what the setting is (and it doesn't seem to autodetect). It would be fantastic, actually, if it would be autodetectable, like flit & PDM do it. By the way, can you mix and match backends? I love the way PDM can use any PEP 621 backend, including PyPA/Flit.

2. Yes, you'd only lose the build & clean commands

No, everything revolves around environments and the deps defined in config

Okay, if it's too different from PDM/Poetry I can leave off the "native" tooling check. Generally I'd need some sort of "prepare environment" command ("install" on other systems), then a "run" command to run some code.

Yeah, I've recently merged support in scikit-hep/cookie, this was a blocker for that. :) Using the better src detection too.
