Why use SafeApplication vs. Application?

Curious, why is the SafeApplication object passed down into the environment plugin instead of the actual Application? Is this something the project might be open to changing?

I've got a use case for hatch-pip-compile where I'd like to run the following code:

another_environment = self.app.get_environment(env_name="test")
self.app.prepare_environment(environment=another_environment)
