The MIDI Inverter VST3 plugin seems to be recognized by Ableton as an Instrument. If I drag it from the plugin browser onto an instrument, the instrument gets replaced, rather than being prepended with a midi effect.

If I comment out the line that says
Vst3SubCategory::Instrument,
from VST3_SUBCATEGORIES, then the plugin is seen as an audio effect.

Looking at the choices for Vst3SubCategory, I don't find anything that looks like midi.

Maybe I have the wrong expectations; I'm trying to learn a little Rust, and to learn to write audio plugins for Ableton, but I thought that it would be easier to start with a Midi plugin.

I'm having a similar problem. How do I get ableton to recognize a vst plugin as a midi effect so it can come in before the instrument? Right now it's either being recognized as an instrument, which replaces the instrument, or an audio effect if I try other options.
