Is there a way to determine if a fingerprint is of value, meaning the image is good enough to be read/matched. Some use cases are: a partial fingerprint or may be something that is partially smudged?

This has been discussed on the forum in the past:

https://sourceforge.net/p/sourceafis/discussion/1051112/thread/e5823cf6/

I am keeping the issue open though since SourceAFIS needs either its own quality metric or official documentation on the topic.

Fingerprint quality metric is a possible future improvement:

For now, most people use NFIQ/NFIQ2 or some metric built into the sensor.

Keeping this issue open as a reminder.
