🚀 Distro 2020.05 Released

This is to let you know that we have just finalized our Software Distro 2020.05 📦

This is a major release that comprises binary packages as well. Therefore, follow the instructions available in the wiki to upgrade your system and/or download the new dependencies.

You can find the tags composing this distro in our Software Versioning Table.

The binaries cover the following platforms:

• Ubuntu bionic 64-bits.
• Ubuntu focal 64-bits.
• Debian buster 64-bits.
• Windows 10 64-bits.

⚠️ Disclaimer

Starting from version 1.15.0 (25-FEB-2020), we added the following dependency:

ycm-cmake-modules

The above package is distributed along with other icub packages by our repository, this package is now a dependency of the packages icub-main and icub-common.

Moreover this new dependency needs a recent version of cmake (at least 3.12).
Where this version is not available in the distribution repositories (such as Ubuntu 18.04 bionic), when you try to install the icub-common package you'll see the following error:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 icub-common : Depends: ycm-cmake-modules but it is not going to be installed
              Depends: cmake (>= 3.12.0)
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

To solve the above issue, you need to add the official Kitware APT repository.

This distro is shipped with several update and fixes, including the ones listed hereafter:

🆕 Updates

• Added GH action for producing automatically the windows binaries installer at every release(Add a GitHub Action job to build a Windows installer on a new tag robotology-superbuild#335)
• Added esdcan device in the Windows binaries installer:
  • Enable ROBOTOLOGY_USES_ESDCAN in CI and in Windows installer robotology-superbuild#360

• Added the new icub-main module wholeBodyPlayer that allows replaying prerecorded sequences through yarpdataplayer (The wholeBodyPlayer icub-main#654)
• Added some boost ports to robotology-superbuild-dependencies-vcpkg
• The Windows binary installer ships with support for native Gazebo simulations on Windows:
  • Windows support gazebo-yarp-plugins#74 (comment)
  • Cleanup Windows packaging code robotology-superbuild#412

🧹 Cleanup

• Removed all the Find*.cmake modules from icub-main, superseded by ycm, which is now a dependency(Remove unnecessary Find*.cmake modules icub-main#646)
• Moved the configuration files of r1 robots, from cer to robots-configuration:
  • Add CER robots robots-configuration#182
  • Moves robots to robots-configuration cer#116
• Removed all the gtk-based modules from icub-main, they have been moved to https://github.com/robotology-legacy/icub-gtk-modules
  • Remove legacy gtk modules icub-main#659
  • Remove GTK2-based modules icub-main#606

• Fixed iCubGui on Windows:
  • iCubGui does not start when installed from robotology-full-installer-2020.02-win64 robotology-superbuild#355
  • iCubGui: In BVHNodeEYE switch from glutSolidSphere to gluSphere icub-main#657
• Fixed icub-main python bindings:
  • Python bindings not working due to recent mutex changes icub-main#645
  • Fix compilation of the bindings after mutexes cleanup icub-main#655
• Fixed yarpview in Windows binaries(yarpview does not start when installed from robotology-full-installer-2020.02-win64 robotology-superbuild#354)
