Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following installed:

  • Node.js (v14 or higher)
  • MongoDB (v4.4 or higher)
  • npm (v6 or higher)
  • Git

Installation

1. Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/MentorTeamSync/teamsync_Infosys_Internship_Oct2024.git
cd teamsync_Infosys_Internship_Oct2024

2. Backend Setup

# Navigate to backend directory
cd backend

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Create environment file
cp .env.example .env

# Start development server
npm run dev

3. Frontend Setup

# Navigate to client directory
cd ../client

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Start development server
npm run start

Environment Variables Setup

Backend (.env file)

Create a .env file in the backend directory with the following structure:

DB_CONNECTION_STRING=
JWT_SECRET=
MAILER_PASS=

Development

Backend Development Server

cd backend
npm run dev

Frontend Development Server

cd client
npm start

Production Deployment

  1. Build the frontend:
cd client
npm run build
  1. Start production server:
cd backend
npm run start:prod
