Confused about NotifierProvider and StateNotifierProvider

I don't see much difference between the two.

StateNotifierProvider is legacy.
NotifierProvider is the modern version (support code-gen, has implicit ref, only build re-run on changes but notifier class doesn't, and will support other features in the future)
