Previous tab and next tab components mounted when switching tabs

I noticed when switching tabs on the information panel, the components for the previous tab and the next tab are both mounted. Is this a bug or a feature? I would expect that only the components for the new tab should be mounted. Is there a reason why the previous tab is also mounted?
