STM32F4 with 74HC165, buttons are constantly updating/receiving values…

Hi @paradajz, Trying to add shift registers to a STM32F4 Black Pill, but could need so help. Buttons are working mostly as expected, but constantly flashing while activity shows that the MCU is constantly updating/receiving values?

MCU to 74HC165: "data" needs to be connected to pin 9, "clock" to pin 2, "latch" to pin 1… correct?

What does this means? Which values?

MIDI activity… CC-values. Or maybe I'm just connecting the components the wrong way? Currently trying to connect either ON/OFF switches or rotary switches for example. EDIT: Guess I'm probably connecting the components incorrectly… Rotary switches e.g. are analog components (?) and need to be connected with PIN n to input n + GND with 10k resistor, etc… and PIN x to 3V… Need some sleep, thanks so far.

SOLVED: Button DOA, replaced + correctly wired… working fine now.
