"Auto-update" is off by default, users have to turn it on manually. Most script managers auto-update by default, unless the user says not to. (User scripts usually need to be updated so they keep working when the website changes.)
Reinstalling a script turns Auto-update back off.
A manual "Check for updates now" button would be useful.
