Feedback from ALTC 2025:
Can we implement automatic keyboard switching between the Vernacular and Glosses boxes? This is relevant in India, where there are multiple scripts in use. I imagine it could also be relevant in a context where a non-Roman script is used for the Vernacular and glossing is done in a language like English, Spanish, French, etc.
Two individuals in the same group used the same login to access The Combine, then were simultaneously looking at the data in the same semantic domain. Only one of the individuals was entering data, but the other was surprised that his screen didn't automatically update to show what the other had done
[Kevin W response:] the usual way for folks on the other side of the table to view what was being entered was to use an external monitor. [Asker] was satisfied with this suggestion. However, those concerned about [keyboard switching] thought this approach of two devices being logged in simultaneously would be a way to have one individual typing Vernacular words on one device with one keyboard active, while a second individual came along behind and filled in the Glosses on a different device with a different keyboard active.
Interesting scenarios that I certainly never thought of!
We can't support keyboard switching in a web app (as discussed in https://community.software.sil.org/t/automatic-keyboard-switching/8484). Would there be a way for us to support a multi-user collaborative data-entry session?
