I'd like to have the ability to search the Linkding bookmark library from the browser extension.
In addition to currently adding bookmarks, please consider adding searching and opening saved bookmarks from the extension window!
This would let us users quickly find and manage bookmarks without the need to open the Web GUI.

Key Features:

Display bookmarks in the extension popup.

Search bookmarks in the extension popup.

Quick actions (open, edit, delete).

Benefits:

Faster access to bookmarks.

Better productivity.

Search is supported in search bar / Omnibox / address bar

Search bookmarks through the Omnibox / address bar (keyword: ld)

I do not see why you need to edit "bookmarks" in the corner of the screen when you can just open tab have a full screen to edit and play around with the links.

Btw you can make a PWA (aka install linkding as an app) and open it when you need to edit/delete.

Thanks, didn't know this, but it's missing a visual pointer, that it's from my Linkding collection! Even knowing this, I'm still not sure if information comes from my browser cache or Linkding. What Browsers is this for? My Brave Browser on macOS, doesn't seem to pick up Linkding bookmarks via the search bar / Omnibox / address bar.

It would be useful if the extension allowed quick edits right after creating a bookmark!
Some sites don’t preload all the details, so I often copy and paste the title/description manually from the open page. Currently, this requires opening another tab, which is unnecessary since the webpage is already open and the place where the information is. A quick edit option in the extension would streamline this process, not having to switch tabs up to 8 times!

Sure I could on mobile, but I'm talking about my desktop workflow where I don't need a separate Linkding PWA.

I don't see much utility in this compared to the effort required. What is the difference between opening the extension popup and searching / managing bookmarks in a cramped UI, compared to adding a bookmark to your browsers toolbar that just opens the linkding website?

Updating existing bookmarks is already possible with the extension - just open the popup again after adding a bookmark and it will show you the bookmark that you just saved. It's a bit annoying that you have to close and reopen it. But in your case where you want to copy something from the page it can not be avoided anyway, the popup will close when you do something else in the browser.

Right now, the extension only lets you open or edit the bookmark directly related to the current page. It would be helpful to also search for and edit other (related) bookmarks without switching tabs. This would keep the workflow smooth and avoid breaking focus—personally, I try to minimize open tabs. Just an idea to enhance an already convenient extension!

Though Im on windows, searching via search bar works in brave.

Once you type ld (for LinkDing), you press tab to search through you linkding bookmarks (do not press enter, as it will search ld in the search engine).

No plans to maintain two UIs for managing bookmarks at this point.
