I'm assuming this is the right place to leave feedback for Exercise - Create the CI workflow on GitHub

When I got to step 4 - add branch protections, I got an error about referencing the merge-branch script - 'Permission denied' - I have seen this before in my own workflows where it is not able to access a script in another file so I had a clue how to solve it. Once I copied the contents of the script file directly into the workflow file it was able to run no problem. I also had to change git merge origin $branch1 to git merge origin/$branch1

I also had the same problem (as below).

I solved it by following these steps.

1. git clone {{my-repo}}
2. git switch origin/ci
3. chmod +x .github/script/merge-branch.sh
4. git add .
5. git push origin HEAD

My PC is a Mac OS.
According to the following article, the commands are slightly different for windows PCs.

Ah so it's just a file permissions issue! That's good to know for future action scripts, thanks

I am also on a mac, but FYI for windows users, if you are using a bash terminal like git bash you can still use the linux-style chmod command to change the file permissions

Thanks for creating this course, was fun to do! Learning for the github Actions Certificate and got to this course through the Microsoft Learn Content

Thanks, I reaally learned so much about GitHub Actions from this course. I've used templates before, but this really help me understand what's happening and how i can write my own custom workflow file. 😅
