Control Daikin AC's with SmartIR via global cache IP2IR's

Does anyone know how to use SmartIR (within HASS) to control Daikin AC's via Global Cache IP2IR devices? I have 8 AC's with embedded LED's that are hard-wired to 3 GC IP2IR units and have been using a Clipsal 5500SHAC to control them but it is clumsy and limited. The SmartIR integration offers a far more elegant solution that is way more capable and will allow many smart control sequences to be used - eg chill house down ahead of a spike in the electricity price. I suspect MQTT has a part to play in this but it is beyond my skill set. (My fall-back is to use Broadlink devices which I know will work but that will involve more cost and installation work). Any help will be appreciated.
