Not sure how to call this.. UTF-8 Support in stream names? #10
Comments
It has to do with character escaping in the bat file that creates the m-tag file. For the meantime , until it is properly addressed, |
I looked at the bat file too, but man, that's way beyond my shell scripting level 😲
That's what I did when all else failed to see where it happened. That fixed at least the displaying, but I found out it's not entirely FooTuner nor FB2K's fault... Because there's another station too with an accented character that shows just fine.. EDIT: I keep forgetting to mention this. I had updated Streamwriter and it wouldn't show up after updating. Reverted to the included version and it worked again. PS. Do you have some kind of support link? I've been using FooTuner for soo long now (ever since it was still called FooTuneIn) that it's about time I do something to show my appreciation. Still loving it tremendously. |
Thanks for your observation about StreamWriter. I will update the readme. I don't have any support link. |
Not even a PayPal.me link? I just feel I need to give you something, I'm sure this must have taken a lot of your time researching how to get all the station info. Oops, stupid mouse slipped 😄 |
No need to give me something , your appreciation comments are enough. If you feel the need you could donate your amount to any charity of your choice or perhaps buy a meal/coffee to someone in need. |
I've been trying to find out how stream name encoding can be influenced, but I can't seem to find out where or how.
This is the situation...
Stream Tunin Name is
Qmusic België
Stream Tunin ID is
s2398
Now, the name gets displayed everywhere as
Qmusic België
, but, what surprised me is that the folder(s) where the mtag(s) got saved show the name correctly, namelyQmusic België - 1237993146
andQmusic België - 2019740986
, and all of the files in these folders also show the name with the accent. They also show correctly in the playlist entries but, not in the group header.
So, somehow Footuner is able to use the UTF-8 version of the name to create the m-Tag folder and filenames, but fails everywhere else.
Now, I've been going through the code three ways from Sunday, but for the life of me can't figure out how you did that.
I'm dying to find out how you managed that because I've modified myhistory.js to create individual history logs for each radio station instead of dumping every played track in one file.
And of course, here I run into the same damn issue that the filename ends up as
Qmusic België.txt
.Besides this, I would love it if I could fix the name display everywhere else this might occur, but I fear that where it depends on plain title formatting that won't fly as I suspect this is some javascript trick I can't use in the panels which title formatting.
