Can snikket work with slidge gateway to bridge with other service like whatsapp, telegram? #226
Comments
Hi! Technically, yes, it can. You can already use a Slidge instance that is hosted on another XMPP server, and that will work fine. What's not currently supported is linking a Slidge instance directly to a Snikket instance. I do plan to quietly add support for this - though it's not necessarily something we plan to "officially" support and promote, because bridging to third-party networks is often unreliable, and we don't want people to depend on it as a core feature of Snikket. However for "power users" who understand what they are doing, I see no harm. I'll leave this issue open to track progress on this. |
why not add an option as part of advanced configuration, but just leave it off by default? |
Hi, Just wondering if this is something that is still being considered? Do agree that it would be very useful addtion. Tq |
Yes, it is. |
Is there any documentation on testing this at the moment? |
No. There is nothing to test, hence no documentation :) |
Since snikket is based on XMPP, can it work with slidge (https://sr.ht/~nicoco/slidge/), which provide XMPP component modules to bridge many other IM.
