Add an interactive 3D model to the web site #26
Comments
Can be theoretically done if one can export a mesh and load it into the threejs. I don't think it would be useful... |
@hinell You All that is required is to use File->Export triangle mesh and choose the html option. It produces a single HTML file with the 3js viewer included. I think all we'd need to do is put a frame on the web site and point it to an exported file. You can see examples of this here The previous lead maintainer used to work there, so they have examples. You can use the mouse to rotate those models and use scroll wheel to zoom. This is just another one of those "OMG it can do THAT" features of Solvespace. Go ahead, save a model as HTML and open it in your web browser ;-) |
Where would we want to put it? I don't really want to clutter the homepage a ton, but it would be pretty cool to showcase. |
@rpavlik I think the examples page would be a good place. Maybe one or of the static images could be replaced with an interactive one and a small change to the text could point out that its interactive and exported from solvespace. |
It might be a good idea to include an exported-as-html model on the website. This would make the site more interesting while showing off a capability of the software.
