FR: Retrigger Modulation at Scene Switch #20
Comments
I'm a bit torn on this, IIUC Captivate synchronizes the modulation with the global beat/bar phase (which is also synced with Ableton Link). My idea how this could be improved is slightly different, but might help your use case too: |
@fwcd hi, since 2023 I ended up with a custom solution for this, but it is not based on captivate. If you are curious, here was the use case I had in mind: https://youtu.be/Cw2Mj8v_DH8 Cheers! |
Ah cool stuff! I ended up writing a small app that lets you tap a tempo/beat into an Ableton Link session (Metropad if you're curious, it's on the App Store, currently iOS-only though), which works with Captivate and other apps too, but for live gigs having to set up a network is still a bit inconvenient. Controlling lighting from a DAW sounds interesting too, a quick search led me to your blog post, have to check that out: https://www.extremraym.com/en/tutorial-light-shows-from-reaper-with-custom-jsfx/ I gotta say that I enjoy the minimalism to Captivate though, so I might hack together a PR here 😄 |
@fwcd haha yes, I got pretty deep into controlling my lights from DAW (REAPER in my case, but could be other DAW as my custom plugin can be run into other DAW as well with a wrapper VST called ySFX). Maybe some things of my article can inspired you for Captivate. And maybe I can take advantage of Captivate for different workflows than the one I elaborated 😉 Cheers ! |
Hi !
To be able to live play with drum pad on flexible tempo,
It would be nice if scene switch could retrigger modulation from start when they are switch, or recalled (if they were already active).
Thx !
