Become a sponsor to Alejandro González
Hi! 👋
Who am I?
My real name is Alejandro González, and I'm a Spanish computer engineer by university degree who believes in free and open-source software, which I think is a great way to empower people to do wonderful things and improve their software development skills. I currently work full-time as a Rust developer for a mid-sized company.
My interests include pretty much all computer-related things. I enjoy playing videogames and tinkering with solutions to technical problems that interest me in my free time. At the moment, I believe I'm mostly known because of PackSquash, a Minecraft resource and data pack optimizer that achieves extreme compression and some obfuscation, which is especially useful for servers. I also developed OptiVorbis, a website and CLI application for lossless optimization of Ogg Vorbis files. My experience also includes developing not-so-good games in Unity with extremely short deadlines for game jams, submitting patches to the Linux kernel that improved Allwinner H6 SoC RTC support, and some more patches for the Rust Zopfli compression algorithm port, spng-rs, Winetricks, VLC, MultiMC, and CoreNLP projects.
What would I support with a sponsorhip?
If you like what I do and believe in my commitment to FOSS and my work, sponsoring me would be a great way to incentivize me to keep doing so! After all, we all need cups of coffee, and one of the things I enjoy the most about open source software is the feeling that I'm doing something good and useful for others, which you demonstrate if you assign some economic value to what I do.
Any funds I raise will be used to motivate myself, but if I get enough money I may decide to make donations to other projects or people I believe in, or make a living out of it, which would allow me to fully focus on what I like doing: free software, with no strings attached.
