I began working with TeX in 1985 and have been working as a software developer for most of the last 30+ years. finl (which stands for finl is not LaTeX) is a modern replacement for LaTeX. The authoring language will be almost identical to LaTeX, but eliminating many of the pain points of that program. Extensions will be possible in a modern scripting language (most likely a fork of the Deno JS engine modified to sandbox scripts to prevent malicious code from running). Code modules are released as available.
