Building up

Since 2013, gulp has been the toolkit of choice for developers and designers alike. Not only do we have communities who’ve relied on us since the beginning, but there’s also a constant flow of new users who find out how great their workflow can be with gulp.

Prior to the last major release, gulp was maintained by a sole maintainer who wasn’t always able to dedicate much time to the project. You might have noticed releases taking a while. 😉

In preparation for the release, we focused on raising funds for the project to expand the team. Our goal was to have a variety of maintainers, each working on smaller parts of the large system. Now, we have over a dozen team members, including developers, documentarians, and even a triage team all working in their “spare” time to maintain and improve the project you love. ❤️

Towards sustainability

If you’ve used our documentation in the last few years, you’re experiencing first-hand the benefits of funding gulp. With a moderately successful funding effort, we found contributors to focus their time and energy, leading to the creation of high quality documentation. Whether you’re a new user just getting started or a power user looking to improve your workflow, there’s something for everyone!

There is still plenty of work do in all parts of the project, so we created an official Expense Policy to ensure all our maintainers are being compensated for the vital work they do.

Gulp is still going strong, but we need your help! We want to continue expanding our team and find even more contributors from every discipline.

We also want to keep building the gulp community, a place for plugin authors to collaborate with the core team on best-in-class plugins for all of our users.
