connection issues don't always have a description in the Account menu #780

so far when the Account button turned red because of a connection issue, there was always an explanatory box at the top of the Account menu (even if almost always it said the origin of the issue is unknown).

in the recent wave of short, intermittent outages (which we've been discussing on Slack), this explanatory box was often missing. this gave me the impression the app is not fully cognizant of the fact that it can't connect to the server (which, in turn, might be related to the conflicted copies).

is that intended?

does this show there is some special cause for the connection issues?
