I feel like I must be confused about some fundamental aspect of stash, because the way scanning and generating works is frustrating in the long term.
I have a collection of scenes that are of medium or long duration (5 minutes or more).
I also have a collection of scenes that are of very short duration (less than 1 minute).
For libraries of medium/long scenes, I want to use the following generation settings:
But for libraries of short scenes, I only want to use the first generation setting, "Generate scene covers". Because there is no real value in the other settings for such scenes - they are just too short for those to matter.
And stash allows for this via "Selective Scan". Great!
However, that is a huge pain to manage as my collection changes, since I can't just click Scan or Generate. Instead, I can only use "Selective Scan" on my various libraries after changing the generation settings accordingly. One mistake requires annoying clean up of unnecessary generated content!
It just seems like a library's definition should include the generation settings to use for that library. Then I could just click Scan or Generate without having to think about these details again and again.
(One might suggest that I just use all of the same generation settings. I tried that, and of course it "works". But the amount of space used in generating previews ends up being more than the size of the short scene files themselves! I don't have that kind of storage space; even if I did, it just feels like a complete waste.)
