UX goals:

Facilitate user customization of data displays and visualizations
Avoid need for user to repeat customization selections
Feature is done when:
User selections of figures are remembered between logins
User selections of table columns are remembered between sequential sessions.

Notes:

Load user preferences into UI structure on session start (not login)
Persist preferences eagerly.
