It should be possible to add some storage_information elements for traverse_thredds.
The file format is particularly relevant for translation to ISO/Inspire.

So when creating mmd records we could populate this section.

We have no clue on this when traversing TDS. The whole point of TDS is to mask the underlying file structure. In order to fill this you need access to the storage. you could fill in the File format, but that is pretty much it...

Yes, the file format is the only element that is relevant for translation to gmd:MD_Format in ISO.
