How to add a new custom field?

How can I add a new custom field (eg. number or range)?

You need to create a new Type like the following:

And register it with a specific service tag:

I've created an xml def for the number field but maxValue and minValue fields are ignored. When I try to save the values in admin UI they're both reset to empty.

I had to use options/minValue as name. It works now!
It could be nice to have a documentation section about this.

documentation would be great! Im not so familiar with services so im kind of at a loss here..
