Unusual notation - can anyone explain?

I'm new to Swagger and OpenAPI and posted a question here about the unusual notation used to describe a data structure.

Can anyone here explain? is this specific to Swagger only or some more general notation that I'm simply ignorant of?

I found these Swagger docs and this but the notation bears no similarity.
