Escape and save the buffer

I find myself using fd then SPC f s to save the buffer. so I was wondering what would be the appropriate way to also save the buffer after exiting insert mode?

I checked the code, there is a hook called pre-command-hook I'm not sure if this is the right hook I should add a function to.
