Setting a user's notification in a Chat Space

Is there a way with GAM (or even API) to set a user's notification settings (All/Main/For You/None) for a space? They default to "main conversation" for Spaces and "All" for chats. I'd love to be able to manage this for spaces and change the notifications on spaces to "For You".
