Composing Utilities with @apply in React.js ?

I'm using tailwindcss in a React project.

I call its classes in this way :

<p className="text-gray-600 text-base-14">
        <Link to="/code">{props.name}</Link>
  </p>

But I did not like this way and I tried to like what I was using in Nuxt.js:

.prg{
 @apply text-gray-600;
 @apply text-base-14;
  }

then import the CSS file and use the class but it does make an impact on the style.

 <p className="prg">
            <Link to="/code">{props.name}</Link>
 </p>

What's the issue?
