My friend can’t use Timeshift, because if it runs, it always runs when the system starts. Which is when she needs to do work. And since Timeshift slows down her old computer to an unbearable speed where you can go make some coffee for an hour before the thing is done, she barely ever gets to the point where the system runs normally.
Offering the option to just do it on shutdown (not on reboot!), would solve all problems.
It would just do nothing until the shutdown is started, then create its snapshot if necessary, and then finish shutting down.
Of course I can do it manually in the init system. But I’d prefer a proper solution that’s supported by you. :)
