Would be nice indeed. Right now I have to patch up stuff e. g. as can be seen on http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/7.7/general/gpm.html

+1 here. Nixpkgs too keep cherry-picking patches from 1.20.7..master; release 1.20.8 would make life easier.

Patch I developed to add support for static build into upstream build system do
not apply cleanly on 1.20.7 release, so instead of backporting it, I decided to
switch to git snapshot instead. It allowed to get rid of three other patches
in nix expression, since they are applied upstream.

I requested proper release, but chance seems to be slim.

Same from Debian. A new release would be fine. And please look through https://salsa.debian.org/debian/gpm/-/tree/master/debian/patches first and take what looks useful. :-)

Well well, isn't it Christmas soon again? I hear everyone and let's prepare a new release. I'll need to wrap my head around the building (it's been some years) and probably will need your help for organising it a bit.

I see 16 issues and 11 open PRs at the moment and was wondering if we can prepare all of them so that they are easy to merge and easy to test?

Best case scenario from my side would be a list of PRs that apply cleanly and should be included in the next release.

Or would anyone be open for a GPM-Christmas-Hack around 27...30 of December? Then we could meet in Matrix or similar and go through all the issues together.

More than an year passed since the last message. @telmich, maybe you need some help? I am sure that people here are more than happy to make the release happen and will assist with whatever you need to make it happen.

It would be good as well to review and merge/close all PRs.

It woild be good as well to have some feedback from maintainet to be aware what is going on ..
