Move off Discord

1. It seems to me the momentum of support for Discord as a hub for open-source communities is shifting towards negative.
2. Discord has made moves that lose confidence in its reliability as a trustworthy single source of failure.
3. They've continued to deny verification for D2 as an official channel despite me submitting evidence (twice).

The common alternatives that I hear, IRC and Matrix, are not appealing to me.

Ideally I want something that

1. Has very minimal user authentication. Identity is not important -- any sensitive comms should go through email. Authentication is only for spam prevention.
2. Easy to use.
3. Viewable anonymously.
4. Easily searchable forever.
5. Self-hosted.

I don't need advanced features like voice chat or mod features. If we have to build our own and host it on like chat.d2lang.com or something, we will. But hoping something that already exists fits the bill or comes along. Will see.
