Thanos Receiver - Hashring rebalancing - It is automatically distributing data on node scaling?

We are not sure if when scaling Thanos Receiver node, new nodes joining the hash are getting replicated data blocks for the existing data in the hash ring.

Take the following scenarios

1. Removal of a DC node

• We have a 5 nodes hash with a replication factor of 3 in DC1 to DC5
• All is running smoothly, all data is spread amongst at least 3 DCs
• DC1 gets in maintenance, data is removed from it

Q1: Is the replicated data in DC1 that was able to satisfy the replication factor being send to another DC ?

2. Addition of a DC node

• We have a 4 nodes hash with a replication factor of 3 in DC2 to DC5
• All is running smoothly, all data is spread amongst at least 3 DCs
• DC1 gets out of maintenance.

Q2: Is the data in DC1 automatically built from DC2 and DC5 so it can be used as a replica for maintenance of other DCs.

I was about to do some tests but I thought an answer could suffice at the moment.
