the new cam's also have two-way audio

look for the link "audio" on the left of the live-cam view:
http://elsecam_03.mac.cc.cmu.edu

i can't get it to to work cuz i'm not able to install the vlc / videolan web plugin (tho i've tried)

nonetheless,
it's there...

any way to get the audio in / out max?

The VLC plugin is given this url in the cam's web javascript:

http://elsecam_03.mac.cc.cmu.edu/videostream.asf?user=USERNAME&pwd=PASSWORD

(replace username / password).

I can open that stream in Max using

jit.qt.movie

and the

read http://elsecam_03.mac.cc.cmu.edu/videostream.asf?user=USERNAME&pwd=PASSWORD

message. If it doesn't work, make sure you have Perian installed. If that doesn't work. make sure you have flip4mac installed.

I cannot hear audio though. Does it have an audio input? I can't see any way to send audio on the interface. Do you know how it knows which client to listen to and how it communicates with the client?

VLC plugin does not work on lion http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=95527.

I get no errors from the patch, so the stream does seem to open, but no sound.
The cameras have a built-in mic and a built-in speaker.

If the jit.qt.movie way works, then audio FROM the camera is solved;
what about audio TO the camera?

How does one send audio to the camera under "manufacturer" sanctioned (non-custom software) situations? Can you do it via the web interface? I can't seem to find anything about that -- even in the manual.
