Best way to build container images with please?

What's the current best way of building container images?

• https://github.com/please-build/docker-rules seems to just support Docker which might be not desirable in all environments +

Docker has disadvantages for building containers with please. It must be run as root and is an external daemon with its own state that prevents hermetic incremental builds. The docker rules just produce a .sh file to push the images docker which must be ran subsequently.

• https://github.com/tcncloud/please.containers seems to rely on deprecated bazel rules
• https://github.com/thought-machine/pleasings/tree/master/oci is deprecated and only works with buildah which won't work on mac for example
