Medtronic 780G #1427
Comments
Hi @eldanh ! We'd love to support Medtronic's 700-series pumps, but we don't have anything to announce yet. |
@gniezen Is the 780G the "Bluetooth-enabled MiniMed™ pump that will be a fully supported delivery device for Tidepool Loop"? And if so, does that planned collaboration between Tidepool and Medtronic include the Tidepool Uploader or are you still dependent on reversing and documentation efforts by the community? |
Hi @nitsch ! We don’t have any details to share about the make/model of Medtronic’s insulin pump that will be supported by Tidepool Loop at this time. Development efforts to support direct uploading from Medtronic’s existing pumps are ongoing, and separate from our Tidepool Loop work. We’ll keep the Tidepool community apprised of both tasks as there’s new news to share. |
@gniezen : could you share any details about these efforts, please? Just to give us an idea where you're headed and where we stand today. |
Now that Medtronic decided to discontinue the development of a Medtronic insulin pump system compatible with Tidepool Loop I'm not so sure we will get any help from Medtronic for an open source communication software which talks to the 780G. Just hoping for someone successfully reverse engineering the protocol. But I don't know how realistic that is. 🤔 |
Any updates? This has been pending for a long time and implementing 780G support seems to also allow easy integration of the new Simplera Sync sensor which will also pair with 780G. |
No update yet, no. We're still talking to them, but nothing to announce yet. |
@gniezen After 3 years of "talking to them" (Medtronic) and no result whatsoever, you must have realized that this road is a dead end. |
I can assume that after three years of working on this, it isn't actually coming. It would be respectful to your community to simply say this and not drag us along with some hope for something that clearly isn't coming. It's really disappointing, because Tidepool is far superior to the Medtronic platform and used to be a saving grace to 670G owners to work with their data. Unfortunately 780G owners can effectively assume we have been abandoned by Tidepool and it's really a shame. |
Hi Kevin. Our standard response may not be particularly verbose, but it is still valid and accurate. We have regular conversations with Medtronic about supporting their current generation of devices, but these agreements take time to finalize. If we had something more precise to offer in terms of timing and expectations, I would gladly offer it. But given the complexity of this work and the number of groups that need to be aligned, again, that takes time with a company the size of Medtronic. Do we wish this work would move forward at a quicker pace? Absolutely. Do we recognize the time this takes and the impact it has on Tidepool's and the broader diabetes community? Every single day. If you are feeling abandoned by our efforts (or perceived lack of effort), that's important for us to hear so we can reassure you (all) our mission and work remains focused on what matters. Making diabetes data more accessible, meaningful, and actionable is part of our foundation and we have not lost focus. If you'd like to discuss this directly, you can contact me - Christopher Snider, Community and Clinic Success Manager at [email protected] |
Hi,
I'd like to vote for supporting upload of Medtronic 780G data into Tidepool. Any plans/news/eta for such support?
Thanks
